List your bag in a minute

Describe what you usually have left — "assorted breads and pastries" is plenty. Set how many bags, a rough retail value, and your pickup window, usually the last 30 minutes before close. It repeats on the days you choose; tweak any day from your phone.

Match the code, hand it over

At pickup, the customer shows a 4-character code. Match it to your dashboard, tap collected, hand over the bag. Nothing to ring up — they've already paid, and the money's on its way to your account.

Why box4u

Built for the shop
on the corner.

Everything about box4u is set up so a small, independent shop comes out ahead.

$0 to start

No sign-up or listing fees. A card processing fee is deducted from each sale.

Customers around the corner

Big apps spread thin across a whole city. We launch a few suburbs at a time, so your bag is seen by people who can actually walk to you.

Paid before you pack

Customers pay when they reserve. You only pack bags that are already sold — and a no-show still pays.

No contract, ever

Pause for a day, change quantities on the night, or stop altogether — straight from your phone.

Built street by street

Your neighbours are
already asking for you.

Big apps spread thin across a whole city. We launch one cluster of suburbs at a time, so every evening there are bags worth opening the app for — and customers who actually live around the corner from you.

Tonight's bag.
Tomorrow's regular.

Is box4u really free?

For founding partners, there are no sign-up or listing fees. Card processing: every sale is processed by our payment partner. A card processing fee (currently 1.65% + A$0.30 per domestic card; international cards cost more) is deducted from each sale before it is paid to you. Fees may change. If our pricing ever changes, you'll hear from us well in advance and can leave at any time.

What if nobody reserves my bag?

Then nothing happens — no cost, no penalty. Your listing simply closes at the end of the day. You'll never pack a bag that hasn't already been paid for.

When do I get paid?

Every week, straight to your bank account through our payment partner. Each sale clears two business days after the customer pays and goes out on your next weekly payout — no-shows included, since customers pay upfront. Your very first payout can take 7–10 days while your account is verified.

What if a customer doesn't turn up?

You keep the payment. Bags are paid at reservation, so a no-show costs you nothing — and the food can go to staff or donation as usual.

Do I have to say exactly what's in each bag?

No. Customers know it's a surprise of what's left on the day. A short description and common allergen notes are all you need.

Can I pause, skip a day or stop?

Anytime. Pause from your phone in one tap, change quantities on the day, or leave altogether. No contracts.

What about food safety?

Bags should contain food that's still safe and suitable to eat, handled the same way you'd handle it for any customer. We'll go through the simple guidelines with you at setup.

Where is box4u available?

We're starting on Sydney's Upper North Shore and growing suburb by suburb. If you're nearby, you're early — and founding partners get the best terms we'll ever offer.

What if a customer cancels or isn't happy?

If an order is cancelled, the customer gets a full refund. Our payment partner doesn't return its card fee on refunded sales: if your shop cancels, that fee comes out of your next payout; if the customer cancels, we cover it. If a customer reports a problem with their bag, we'll check with you first; where a refund is due, it comes out of that sale.

How do I set up payments?

At setup we send you a secure link from our payment partner. Add your ABN, bank account and ID — it takes a few minutes — and you're ready to receive payouts. You can see every sale and payout in your dashboard.

What is a box4u bag?

Food a local shop couldn't sell today, packed into a surprise bag at a lower price. You save money and the food doesn't go to waste.

Why don't I know exactly what's inside?

Each shop packs what's left at closing time, so the contents change every day. The listing tells you the type of food and what it's worth.

How much do I save?

Every bag shows its original value and your price. Bags are always at most half the original value.

How do I collect my bag?

Go to the shop during the pickup time shown on your order and show the QR code (or the 4-digit code) at the counter.

What if I'm late?

Shops close after the pickup time and can't keep bags. If you miss the pickup time, the bag can't be refunded.

Can I cancel?

You can cancel up to 2 hours before pickup starts, from My orders.

What if the shop cancels?

Sometimes a shop sells out before closing. If that happens we'll tell you and you won't pay for that bag.

I have a food allergy. Is a bag safe for me?

We can't guarantee what's in a surprise bag. If you have an allergy or dietary need, ask the shop before you collect, and don't eat anything you're unsure about.

How long does the food keep?

Treat it like food bought at the end of the day: eat it today unless the shop tells you otherwise.

How do I pay?

You pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay when you reserve, through our payment partner.

Who runs box4u?

box4u is operated by ServiceBaba Pty Ltd (ABN 90 695 084 309), Sydney.
